The current official Statement from GOV.UK
Enforcement arrangements Drivers will not be subject to enforcement action by the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) in respect of the Driver CPC regulations. We have informed police forces of this position.
If you are stopped by an enforcement officer they can check to see that you have previously recently held a Driver CPC or are in the military (including reservists acting under instruction).
Drivers should carry their expired Driver CPC card if they have it.
The drivers that this measure applies to will be required to comply with Driver CPC rules from 1 October 2020.
Where this applies These changes apply to Great Britain. Arrangements in Northern Ireland are devolved.
For international road transport drivers should have a Driver CPC, unless the type of transport is exempt from the requirements.
The end date will be kept under review. The proposed schedule includes a substantial period to recover missed training, whose duration will need further assessment.
Insurance Road transport operators will need to check insurance validity, but should not expect any significant change in premiums.
Remote training Some training will be delivered remotely by commercial providers, via online video platforms. The department encourages drivers to continue to undertake training wherever possible, but not as an activity that needs extra travel and only in compliance with general government advice.
Check your training record You can find out here how much periodic training you've already completed.
Never held a Driver CPC or Driver CPC expired before 1 March 2020 We are considering options for drivers with the HGV or PCV entitlements who have never held a Driver CPC and who want to start driving professionally.
How does remote CPC training work?
It is very straightforward to attend our online training sessions!
As a JAUPT accredited trainer, we use the latest high quality camera and audio systems to deliver training directly over the internet via a platform called Zoom. This is a high quality video conferencing piece of software used by millions of businesses all over the world. Our trainer invites delegates via email with full joining instructions, a login and password. The only equipment required by their delegates is access to a pc with a webcam, a laptop or tablet that MUST have a built in camera.
The standard of training is as good if not better than it is in the classroom. Most delegates find it more relaxing and therefore of a higher standard because they can focus more intently without distraction and in the comfort of their own homes. Our experience of online training has been surprisingly more effective and the delegates feedback has been extremely positive. This method of training could well be used for future driver online development such has been the initial success during its initial early stages of introduction.
From just £49 per delegate we believe we offer one the most developed methods of driver CPC training in the UK.
